Update 1: Cold Front: Western-/Southern Cape 8 - 10 May 2014

The latest weather satellite image reflect the current system still situated south/west of the country:

The  SAWS issued the following Watch and Advisory at 15h15 today:

WATCH: Heavy rain is expected over the Cape Metropole and Overberg of Western Cape this evening into Friday morning that can result in localized flooding.

ADVISORY: An intense cold front is expected over the Western Cape and the western parts of the Northern Cape from Thursday into Friday. The public and/or small stock farmers are advised that strong winds over the interior, gale force winds along the coast south of Table Bay, heavy rain over Cape Metropole and Overberg that can lead to localized flooding and rough seas south of Alexander Bay can be expected.

Gale force wind (50 - 64 km/h) is already recorded by two weather buoys. Both these weather buoys are located near 34 Deg Lat and 18 Deg Long.
