MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations:  Snow in Summer. Yes indeed. Snow fell the day before yesterday on the Southern Drakensberg. SnowReport SA provided pictures of the rare and unusual weather phenomena for this time of the year.

SnowReport SA writes: We had many predictions as to when the first snow of the 2015 season would fall, none I'm sure guessed it would be February. The KZN Drakensberg has had a unseasonable blanket of snow cover the Southern Berg in the Bushman's Nek region. Very light and transient but fantastic nonetheless!. Heavy rain also fell in areas of the Eastern Cape yesterday due to a low pressure system that moved in over land.  More than 50mm of rain was measured in areas.  A strong WSW wind blew in areas of the Eastern Cape yesterday. The system has since moved eastwards away from the country. Up to now no reports of damage was received.
