Update 1: #SevereWeather, #HeavyRain #Flashflooding expected during the period 26 - 31 December 2014 in SA
An intense tropical low pressure system is expected to move in over Botswana, later spreading tropical moist air over the eastern and northern parts of South Africa from the early hours on Saturday morning and into Monday. The Public is advised that heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and flooding can be expected. Today's 04:00 UTC natural colours RGB image ( Eumetsat) shows the current cloud base over Botswana and the North West Province. It is however still to early to give a definite overview of the system, however Weather Observers should keep a very close eye on the intensification of the system (currently no indication of the possible formation of an extra tropical cyclone) over the next few days. Updates to follow.
