#SevereWeather, #HeavyRain #Flashflooding expected during the next 120 hours over parts of South Africa (26 - 31 December 2014)
An intense tropical low pressure system is expected to move in over Botswana. The tropical low is the product of intense heating over the land surface and an influx of moisture is expected over parts of South Africa as illustrated by the above forecasting charts courtesy NCEP. Today's 06:00 UTC natural colours RGB image ( Eumetsat) shows the formation of a possible spiral structure to the tropical low. It is however still early times to give a definite overview of the system, however it would appear that heavy rain and possible flash flooding can be expected in areas. Weather Observers should keep a very close eye on the intensification of the system (formation of a possible extra tropical cyclone) over the next few days. Updates to follow.
