SAWS SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS:

WARNINGS: ------ Nil

WATCHES: Heavy falls leading to flash flooding are possible over the Free State and the North West province as well as over the western parts of the Western Cape, spreading to the eastern parts on Tuesday morning.

SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORIES: An intense cut-off low system is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape as well as the Free State and the North West Province on Monday and Tuesday. The public and small stock farmers are advised that heavy falls and flash flooding are possible in places.

MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations:  The cut-off low moved eastwards quite quickly and thereby reduced that amount of rain in certain areas considerably.  However not before a severe thunderstorm killed 2 people and injuring 7 when a crane was blown over by a gale force wind in the Upington area. Damaged was also caused at Raaswater where a tree fell on a house after being blown over. The Desert Place-Casino's roof was also damaged by gale force wind gusts.  Read more by clicking HERE.
