WATCHES: Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over eastern part of the Northern Cape and the western Free State

MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations: None

MSBWX General Weather Observations: Cool, warm to hot conditions expected today over parts of SA.   Thunderstorms can be expected in parts of the Free State, Northern Cape, Kwazulu Natal, Western Cape, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Eastern Cape.  

26 Fires detected over the past 24 hours in South Africa. Please contact your nearest fire fighting unit, Working on Fire or Local Fire Fighting Service when fires are observed. The earlier a fire is detected to better the chances of extinguishing the fire.

MSBWX National Disaster Observations: A weak cut-off low is expecting to bring heavy rain and possible flooding to parts of the Southern and Eastern Cape by this evening.  Rainfall prediction:  Mossel Bay = 20mm, George = 20mm, Knysna = 18mm, Plettenberg Bay = 18mm and Port Elizabeth = 33mm.  It is not certain at this stage where heavy rain will fall and if the cut-off low will develop any further.  Let's keep an eye on the weather for the next 48 hours.
