SAWS SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORIES: WARNINGS: --------- 1. Extremely high fire danger conditions expected over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the southern parts of the North - West province, Gauteng, Free State, Mpumalanga highveld, KwaZulu - Natal, the Eastern Cape and central Karoo of the Western Cape. 2. Gale force westerly to north - westerly winds of 65 - 75km/h is expected between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas. 3. Localized flooding is expected over the Cape Metropole, Overberg, Cape Winelands and southern parts of the West Coast District. 4. Heavy rain is expected over the Cape Metropole, Overberg, Cape Winelands and southern parts of the West Coast District.

WATCHES: -------- 1. Disruptive snowf alls are expected over the high - lying areas of the Western Cape and the southern parts of the Northern Cape on Thursday. 2. High seas with wave height s from 6 to 9m are expected between Cape Point a nd Cape Agulhas tomorrow aftern oon, spreading to Plettenberg Bay and Lamberts Bay on Thursday.

SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORIES: --------------------------- 1. An intense cold front is expected over Western, Northern and Eastern Cape on Wednesday and Thursday. The public and small stock farmers are advised that heavy rain, localized flooding, very cold conditions, snow falls, strong winds, gale force maritime winds a nd very rough seas can be expected


National Severe Weather Observations:  HIGH FIRE RISK - A high fire risk is currently experienced in parts of South Africa with several large fires are currently burning.   381  fires were detected over the past 24 hours in South Africa.  Please contact your nearest fire fighting unit, Working on Fire or Local Fire Fighting Service when fires are observed.  The earlier a fire is detected to better the chances of extinguishing the fire.

General Weather Observations:  An intense cold front is expected to make landfall this morning over  the Western- , Northern- and Eastern Cape.  Be advised that heavy rain, localized flooding, very cold conditions, snow falls, strong winds, gale force maritime winds and very rough seas can be expected.
