National Severe Weather Observations:  HIGH FIRE RISK - A high fire risk is currently experienced in parts of South Africa and special care needs to be taken in the Little and Southern Karoo.  438  fires were detected over the past 24 hours in South Africa.  Please contact your nearest fire fighting unit, Working on Fire or Local Fire Fighting Service when fires are observed.  The earlier a fire is detected to better the chances of extinguishing the fire.

A fairly intense cold front is approaching the country from the West and is expected to make landfall on Wednesday, 27 August 2014.  Let's keep an eye on this one.  It is to early to predict its full impact.  Will update as it develop and progresses.

National Disaster Observations:  Multiple reports were received of an earth tremor in parts of the East Rand late yesterday afternoon.
