Low Pressure/Upper Trough: Northern Cape, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State (7 - 8 May 2014)

The latest weather satellite image reflect  a low pressure system with warm upper air trough currently situated over parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and moving later towards the Free State.

Warm Berg-wind conditions are currently experienced in the Southern Cape. Strong +35 km/h NNW winds can be expected along the coastal areas between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay today. Isolated showers and thundershowers expected in parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Southern Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State today and early tomorrow morning. Sea conditions are deteriorating with a 2 - 4 meter swell predicted between CapeAghulhas and East London.

A NW wind of up to 35 km/h has been recorded in Mossel Bay at 07h30 this morning.
