The approaching cold front can clearly be seen in the above image. SAWS has issued several warnings which is available on this blog. Heavy rain, possible flooding and gale force winds are predicted for parts of the Western, Southern and Eastern Cape. Personally at this stage I have my doubts that this front will have an adverse effect on the country. It looks like the majority of the front might just slip past the country. However rainfall of between 10 - 25mm is expected in Cape Town and Overberg areas . It is still early days and we need to keep an eye on further development later today. The weather warnings remain in effect and the necessary precautionary measures must be taken in the event that this front turns into severe weather.
Another cold front making landfall on Tuesday next week needs to be observed closely as it is expected to be a real stinger and a real severe winter storm. More on this in future updates.
