Approaching Cold Front: Western-, Southern and Eastern Cape (24 - 25 May 2014)

The latest forecast models reflect a cold front approaching the South Western Cape making landfall later today.  This front is likely to bring strong gale force winds from the NNW becoming strong from the NW later along the Western Cape coast line between Table Bay to Plettenberg Bay.  Light rain (2 - 10 mm) and possible thunderstorms (20% chance) can be expected in areas of the Northern- and Western Cape, mostly falling on Saturday. Hot conditions (29 Deg/C in places) can be expected before the front but a sharp drop in temperatures (Min 15 Deg/C in places) is expected behind the cold front.  This front looks quite impressive on the latest satellite image. Once again take note of the strong gale force winds and thunderstorms which can result in severe weather. Take the necessary precautionary measures and be prepared.
