07H42 SAST - The current system has intensified in the last few hours. This resulted in moderate to heavy rain in areas of the Western Cape especially the Overberg region. Further moderate to heavy rain with possible flooding can be expected in areas of the Western Cape if this system intensifies further. The latest satellite image also reflect a nice clockwise movement of the system. Will this turn into a extra-tropical or mid-latitude cyclone? It is difficult to tell from the current satellite images but we definitely need to keep an eye on this system. Moderate to heavy (8 - 27mm) rain is also expected later today in parts of the Southern Cape.
