UPDATE: Heavy rain (possible severe weather) expected in parts of the Western- Southern- and Eastern Cape ( Period: 23 - 27 March 2014)

We still have a clearly defined cut-off low and upper trough that constitutes a fairly "intense" weather system.  This mornings synoptic chart shows two low pressure systems in close proximity to each other to the west of the country. However at this stage I do not yet observe the "ingredients" for a severe weather event BUT let's not relax now.  This system is still in the development stage and the next few hours should reveal whether we will experience heavy rain, flooding and damage.  Herewith the latest (07h00) weather satellite image courtesy Eumetsat:

Predictions charts are still flip flopping with predictions changing constantly.  Herewith the latest prediction charts courtesy NCEP:

The above forecast models still reflect the possibility of moderate to heavy rain in areas of the Northern- Western-  and Southern Cape for the next 72 hours.

MSBWX request that members of the public be on high alert during the above period!!

Keep safe!!
