Images - Real Time Weather Observation: Mossel Bay (10 March 2014 07h24 SAST)

Images: MSBWX (Click on images for larger view.)

The above cloud formation was observed this morning over Mossel Bay.  This cloud band stretched from NW to SE as far as the eye could see.  Not reflected in the picture is the narrow band with clear skies on both sides.  This is not a roll-cloud.  I have done some research to determine what type of cloud this could be but unfortunately I could not find any suitable description.  Possibilities include: Single Wave Cloud, Lee Wave, Föhn cloud or a cloud formed as a result of orographic lift. The last two photos visually mimic a tornado possibly resulting from orographic lift  If anybody know what type of cloud formation this is please forward more info to MSBWX by clicking HERE.
