Update: Cold front and cut-off low could result in unseasonal weather for parts of the Western- and Southern Cape (4 - 9 January 2014)
The predictions charts are still fluctuating on a regular basis with the latest chart showing that the frontal system is likely to hover along the Cape West Coast. The probability of pre-frontal rain in parts of the Northern Cape has increased to -20. It is therefore possible to expect moderate to heavy rain in parts of the Northern Cape for the 4 -5 January 2013. Moderate to heavy rain (25 - 45mm) is still expected to fall over parts of the Western- Southern and Eastern Cape in the forecast period. ( 4 - 9 January 2014)
It would appear the the cut-off low is currently not intensifying but due to the unpredictable nature of cut-off lows it is still necessary to observe the system throughout the forecast period.
NOTE: Barometric pressure in Mossel Bay dropped to 1004Mb which is the lowest recording in the past 6 months.
MSBWX will bring you updates in this regard.
