Several Veldfires buring in the Southern Cape Area today

Several Veld-fires were observed in the Southern Cape Area today.  With the temperature rocketing to 31 Deg/C in areas this was expected.  MSBWX would like to draw the attention of landowners to the National Forest and Veldfire Act available HERE.

The dryness of vegetation coupled with the winds that are constantly changing direction creates perfect conditions for runaway veld fires to ignite. Veld fires are a serious threat to the agricultural sector and land users are urged to adhere to risk reduction measures.

Braai fires must never be left unattended especially on or near dry vegetation. Monitor hotspots for possible veld fire outbreaks and report them immediately to local Fire Protection Association or Fire Brigade in your area.
