SAWS SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS: 
 
WARNINGS: Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape 

WATCHES: Severe thunderstorms are expected over the northern interior and eastern escarpment of the Eastern Cape, the south-eastern part of the free state, as well as in the South-western part of KwaZulu-Natal. 

SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORIES: Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the central Karoo, along the wild coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape, as well as over the North-eastern Parts of KwaZulu-Natal. 

MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations:  Heavy rain and flooding were yesterday observed in parts of Gauteng. 1 Person was killed by lightning near Vereeniging during a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. It was also reported that 2 people died and 10 were injured after a tree crushed a taxi on Caroline & Krause in Brixton, Johannesburg.  Images: Twitter, Traffic SA and several observers as mentioned in the images.










MSBWX General Weather Observations:  Cool, warm to very hot conditions expected today over parts of SA. Thunderstorms and rain showers can be expected in parts of  Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Northern Cape, Free State. Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal.  Light rain is expected towards the evening along the Western Cape coast.  Drizzle and fog expected along the escarpment of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

MSBWX National Disaster Observations:  Several veld fires were burning in parts of the Western Cape yesterday.  However fire fighting services quickly contained and extinguished the fires.  Great work by all the fire services!  Most unwanted veld fires are caused by the negligence of people.  Be Firewise!  Images: Twitter
