SAWS SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS:

WARNINGS: Localised flooding from persistent rain is possible in places over southern and eastern KwaZulu - Natal

WATCHES: Gale force southwesterly wind of 35 - 45kt are expected between Margate and Maputo.

MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations: Yesterday in South Africa - Dust Storms, Hail, Snow, Rain, Severe Thunderstorms, Flash Flooding, Fires, Car Accidents, Search and Rescue, Strong Wind and a Tornado observed.  Flooding occurred yesterday in parts of Kwazulu Natal . It would appear that Howick and Umgeni was of the hardest hit areas.  Here are a few photos of the severe weather experienced yesterday in South Africa.

MSBWX General Weather Observations: Cool, warm to hot conditions expected today over parts of SA. Isolated thundershowers expected over parts of the Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Eastern Cape.  Rain showers expected in parts of the Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal.  Snow falls expected this morning in parts of the North Eastern Cape.

50 Fires detected over the past 24 hours in South Africa. Please contact your nearest fire fighting unit, Working on Fire or Local Fire Fighting Service when fires are observed. The earlier a fire is detected to better the chances of extinguishing the fire.
