SAWS SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS:

WARNINGS: Heavy falls of rain leading to localised flooding is possible in places over southern and eastern Kwazulu - Natal as well as extreme eastern Eastern Cape.

WATCHES: Severe thunderstorms with damaging wind and large hail a re possible in Mpumalanga and over central and eastern parts of Limpopo as well as western Kwazulu - Natal

SPECIAL WEATHER ADVISORIES: -------Nil  

MSBWX National Severe Weather Observations:    Heavy rain is forecast for the southern and eastern parts of  Kwazulu Natal as well as the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape by this evening.  Rainfall of more than 50mm is forecast in places. (Expected rainfall: Durban = 49mm; Empangeni 35mm; Port Shepstone 38mm;  Stanger  (KwaDukuza) 44mm)  The heavy rain can lead to flash flooding in areas and the public should take the necessary precautionary measures.

MSBWX General Weather Observations: Cool, warm to hot conditions expected today over parts of SA. Isolated thundershowers expected over parts of the Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Free State, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal. Light rain can be expected along the west coast, of the Western Cape.

Snow Report Forecast:  "Snowfall for Thursday and Friday will be fairly heavy in certain areas over the KZN Drakensberg and Lesotho, including Giant's Castle with predicted snowfall being as much as 19cm. Snow for the Thabana Ntlenyana mountains close to Sani Pass could see snow of more than 20cm.
