UPDATE 1: Cold front and upper trough to move in over the Western and Southern Cape Period: 21-24 April 2014
Prediction models indicate that the Western-, Southern-, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal can expect cold and rainy weather during the above period. Light snowfall can be expected on the high mountains of the Western and Northern Cape (20% chance) while snow is also expected on the Southern Drakensberg by Thursday afternoon. (30% chance) Moderate to heavy rain (5 - 30 mm) is expected to fall in parts of the Western-, Southern- and Eastern Cape while as much as 50mm can be expected in parts of Kwazulu Natal.
Please note that the above prediction will change in the next 72 hours as the system develops. Updates will follow.
Let's keep an eye on the weather for the next few days as there is also a chance that this system might develop into a cut-off low. We are now in the peak of the cut-off low "season" and need to be vigilant and prepared for any eventuality.
